Education of Indonesia in 2012 is full of injustice
JAKARTA - Indonesia Federation of Teachers (FSGI) in collaboration with the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), and several other educational institutions deliver, by 2012 Indonesia's education is full of injustice.
Housed in the Office of the ICW, Wednesday (01/02/2013), the form of educational inequity in the country in 2012, include:
Commercialization of Education: Pilot International Standard School (RSBI)RSBI only cause new social inequalities among citizens because only serve qualified children of the upper middle class economy. This limits the access of the underprivileged and thwart opportunities for citizens to get a quality education and quality.
Inequity in the National Examination (UN)Inequity in the UN is seen when schools in Indonesia with quality varying with the UN should use the same standards as a measure of graduation students. Often the problems created UN oriented educational situation in central areas such as Jakarta and less attention to the conditions in small areas.
Violence in EducationIn 2012, Indonesia's education characterized by various forms of violence. One of them is a fight between students of SMAN 6 and SMAN 70 Jakarta who had become the public spotlight. In the event a student of SMAN 6 Jakarta was forced to stretch lives. In addition, many cases of student brawls also often occur in various regions in Indonesia.
Teacher Competency Test (UKG)Since August 2012, the government began implementing UKG online. It was considered as one form of injustice committed by the government. With done online, teachers are assessed by testing the ability simply to see online. In fact, teachers in rural areas are still many who are not technologically savvy and not easily reached by the signal.
Curriculum ChangesFSGI and other educational institutions assess, curriculum change is not urgent, because that must be repaired first is the quality of teachers. Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) issued a budget that was so great to run this new curriculum. One of these such as the budget provided for the procurement of books that reached Rp10 trillion, while funding for teacher training is not budgeted.
Looks so obvious gap in it. Teachers are required to implement the new curriculum, but the teachers themselves have not had a good ability to apply them in the classroom.
Access EducationCurrently, there are many children who do not receive education because of the difficulty of getting the way to school. The problem of access to education is not only happening in remote areas, but also in urban areas such as Jakarta. Access to education in urban areas is problematic because of the spread of uneven quality schools. In addition, there are quite burdensome administrative requirements, such as family card and birth certificate, the cause of other difficulties of children to education.
