KM Hope Lucky III Burned in AmbonAMBON,
KOMPAS.com - Ship passenger motorcycle Lucky Hope III, who had sailed cruise Ambon-Buru Island, Thursday (31/01/2013) at around 12:10 in the beach village of Poka burning, District Baguala, Ambon .
The ship was on fire when he was riding back in the dock because of a slight defect. The fire that burned the ship to panic a crew that is not far from the location of the fire. They immediately tried to extinguish the fire by spraying the vessel.
As a result of this fire, all parts of the vessel and others exhausted engulfed in the flames. There were no fatalities, but the owner of the vessel is expected to lose hundreds of millions of dollars.
Sahabudin, one of the crew of the vessel, said that while the fire, he and two colleagues were on the ship to repair the damage to the machine, but suddenly they saw flames licking out of the ship. Sahabudin and two colleagues were immediately initiated to extinguish the fire with makeshift way, but the fire continued to grow, and eventually all three overboard to save themselves.
Sahabudin also revealed strong winds made the fire difficult to extinguish. The fire burned almost even other vessels adjacent to the ill-fated ship.
"Suddenly we saw flames emerging from the burning vessel and all parts of the ship, we immediately tried to extinguish the flames," said Rahman, one of the other crew.
New blaze was extinguished after two hours. The crew assisted residents to spray water toward the flames. "Strong winds make us difficult to extinguish this fire," said Rahman again.
Until this news was revealed, not known for certain causes of fire ships, but provisional estimates, the ship caught fire due to an electrical short circuit.
