2.755 Families become Flood Victims in Jakarta

Overflowing Ciliwung River and Pesanggrahan River has led to 2755 families in 15 villages in Jakarta flood victims.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) in a press release, through Thursday (11/22/2012) night, the 15 villages covering four districts in East Jakarta (Kampung Melayu, Bidara China, Cililitan, and Cawang), nine sub-districts in South Jakarta (Bukit Duri, Kebon Baru, Eastern Housing, Ulu Jami, Bintaro, Pondok Pinang, Cipulir, South Grogol and Pondok Labu), and two villages in West Jakarta (Kedoya South and South Sukabumi).

Disaster Management Agency regions (BPBD) DKI Jakarta has set up emergency shelters in each village and provide assistance to the community.

"Overflowing Ciliwung River flooding and the resulting magnitude Houses runoff into two watersheds. Capacity of the river is not able mengatuskan existing streamflow due to sedimentation and river channel narrowing," wrote the press release.
