UN Admits Israel on 29-11-1947, now Palestine's time

JAKARTA - Palestinians continue to seek to improve the status of their membership in the United Nations (UN). 29 November 1947, the United Nations recognizes the establishment of an independent Jewish State called Israel. Now on the same date in different years Palestinians seeking similar recognition.Palestinians are not looking for full recognition as a state by the United Nations, they are simply seeking to improve monitoring of membership status, represented by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to monitor the state of non-members (non-member observer state). But Israel balked at Palestinian desire and supported by the United States (U.S.).

Through the UN General Assembly vote on Thursday will determine the time of New York, the U.S., the fate of Palestine will be decided by the approximately 193 UN member states. Palestinians expected to receive great support from Arab countries, developing countries and the Non-Aligned Movement.

As for the U.S. as veto rights holders, have confirmed they will not support the Palestinian effort. The U.S. argued, would undermine the Palestinian desire peace efforts in the Middle East.

But not all western countries against the wishes of the Palestinians. Some European countries also provide full support for the Palestinian effort.

Austria, Denmark, Norway, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Malta, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland have said they would approve a draft resolution proposed Palestinians. Britain also said it would support the Palestinians with some reservations.

Support from European countries is a diplomatic victory for the Palestinians. Most European countries support Palestine in the United Nations is the developed countries that have a major influence in the international community.

With great support from countries in the UN, it is appropriate that an increase in the status of the Palestinian membership was approved. Not only is this going to help the Palestinians, but also can make the Palestinians and Israel in the same position in the Middle East peace negotiations.
