First Year, 30 Percent New Curriculum in Elementary

JAMBI, KOMPAS.com - After an internal meeting on public test, the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) finally decided that the 2013 curriculum will not be implemented in all elementary schools (SD). Education and Culture Minister Mohammad Nuh, said that from the first year, next July, the new curriculum will only be applied to 30 percent of primary schools in the whole of Indonesia.

Selection of the application is only at 30 per cent is due to the number of elementary school are pretty much at around 148,000 schools across Indonesia. Not to mention the number of Islamic Elementary School (MI) which recorded about 30,000 schools.
The number of schools is necessarily proportional to the number of teachers who also recorded quite a lot if only classes I and IV only. Meanwhile, in June, completed teacher training is targeted for implementation in July.
"We are realistic population was 148,000 elementary schools exclude MI. Teacher training must be completed by June. Actually can be done also for the July-August but it was not possible," said Noah.
Nevertheless, it guarantees that there will be no discrimination in the application of the school's new curriculum. Both schools in the city and in the countryside remains a target implementation of the new curriculum in July.
"So it does not build up in the city of all. Affairs and private and any accreditation are also entitled to the application of the curriculum," said Noah.
"So it can be seen that the accreditation was weak where the other is weak and where," he added.
As for the level of Junior High School (SMP) and High School (SMA), the new curriculum will be implemented in class VII and X to all schools across Indonesia as already described in the concept of public testing.
"For the junior class VII was implemented in all schools. For SMA / SMK Class X targets the entire school as well. Primary school only 30 percent of the school population," he said.
