New Bird Flu Virus More Malignant?


Headline - Researchers Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Baso Darmawan, said mutations bird flu virus (H5N1) has infected a third type of poultry in the territory of Indonesia. Data collected since the beginning of October 2012 showed a more virulent virus was the cause of death of hundreds of thousands of birds.


"The latest data up to December 27, 2012 yesterday, the death of ducks is very high. More than 150 thousand ducks died in 50 districts in 9 provinces in Indonesia," he said while talking to VIVAnews Baso.

According Baso, bird flu into three types in birds has been confirmed meelalui laboratory research. He regretted the attitude of the government which he scored less readily address the spread of this virus. Especially now has mutated into a more virulent.

The government, he said, actually knew that the bird flu virus has been actively spreading since 2004. However, the government is serious about combating this virus. Data from the Center for Veterinary (BBVet) Yogyakarta showed about 113,700 ducks died of bird flu virus over the past four months. The ducks are scattered in three provinces, namely Yogyakarta, Central Java, and East Java. This virus attacks the start of September in Central Java.

The bird flu virus that attacks in three provinces were also detected as a new type, namely clade (group) 2.3.2.1. The virus is a mutation of the old type, clade 2.1.
