Punishment Actors Escalated Violence Against Children Need?
VIVAnews - Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection, Arist Merdeka Sirait, said that during 2012 the agency received 2637 reports of violence against children. Mostly related to sexual violence.
"We received 2637 reports of child abuse, 62 percent of which is sexual assault. Phones physical violence," Arist said while talking to headline Sunday night, January 6, 2013.
According to him, the report in 2012 was up from the previous year. In 2011, he continued, the National Commission for Child Protection received 2509 reports of violence against children. Similar in composition, sexual violence also dominate.
"About 52 percent are sexual abuse, so in 2012 of child sexual abuse rose 10 percent," he said. "This means that this year could be the year the emergency of sexual violence against children."
These concerns, said Arist, not without reason. The indications include the death of RI, 11-year-old boy who allegedly sexually assaulted. RI died after being treated at the department of Friendship. She was admitted to hospital on December 29, 2012 and passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

"Because the emergency of sexual violence against children, I invite all parties to urge the perpetrators be increased to a minimum sentence of 20 years, maximum lifetime, when it's only 15 years old," said Arist.
