Authority Mahmoud Abbas Threatens to Disband PalestinaRAMALLAH,

KOMPAS.com - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Thursday (12/27/2012), he threatened to dissolve the Palestinian Authority if Israel does not renew peace talks move after Israeli elections on 22 January.

In an interview with daily publications Israel, Haaretz, if not continue peace talks he will hand over responsibility for administration of the West Bank to Israel.

"If there is no progress even after the election, I would call Netanyahu," Abbas said.
"I would say to him .... Replace me, take all the keys, and you are in charge of the Palestinian Authority," said Abbas, a Haaretz interview published on Thursday evening.
"When the new Israeli government is formed, Netanyahu will have to decide yes or no," added Abbas.
This is not the first time Abbas sent a threat like that. Moreover, in recent months, Palestinians face thorny problems related to endless financial crisis.
Peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians stalled since 2010. The reason, the Palestinians insist that Israel stop building Jewish settlements in the occupied territories as a condition for continuing the main discussion. However, Israel did not heed the terms of the proposed Palestinian.
The condition is complicated after the UN last month to raise the status of Palestine as observer countries not members. UN recognition sparked Israel's decision to expand the number of new homes in Jewish settlements in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem.
In addition to the Jewish question, since the historic decision of the United Nations, Israel has also reduced coordination with Palestinian security forces in the West Bank.
Abbas insists he wants Netanyahu renew negotiations with Israel after the election. However, Abbas demanded that Israel halt construction of new Jewish settlements, renew transfer of tax revenues Israel Palestinians were arrested and freed 120 Palestinian prisoners.
"All I have to say this is not a pre-requisite. Those are commitments that delivered Israel in the past," said Abbas.
The Palestinian Authority was formed in 1994, accompanied by the return of PLO leader Yasser Arafat, after 27 years in exile.
Led by Arafat and later Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority now has branches of government and the legislature, and "in theory" the Palestinians are responsible for security in the West Bank.
