Vice President of Egypt Mahmoud Mekki Backward


VIVAnews - Vice President of Egypt, Mahmoud Mekki, announced his resignation after the country held a referendum vote on the controversial constitution. Resignation of former judge adds rows Egyptian officials who have taken similar steps.


"The nature of politics is not in accordance with my professional background as a judge," said Mekki, on Saturday, December 22, 2012, as quoted by the BBC page.

Mekki announced his resignation just hours after two rounds of polling for the referendum was closed

Male 58 years old also admitted that he had wanted to quit since 7 November. However, circumstances force him to stay in his position as a deputy minister. Condition that he meant Israel conflict in Gaza and the controversial decree issued by President Mohamed Mursi.

According to the BBC analysis, Mekki no longer a role as vice president if the draft constitution and referendum supported escapes approved Mursi people.

The second round of polling for the referendum has been closed and many people are hoping the Egyptian public referendum to approve a draft that has been made. Even so, this referendum opposing camps assess referendum will not end the violence in Egypt.
