Trash New Year 7150 Predicted to Reach Ton
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Jakarta Sanitation Agency predicts trash on New Years Eve 2013, will rise by 10 per cent of normal. Head of Jakarta Cleanliness Department Unu Nurdin said the total volume of waste in New Year's Eve, December 31, 2012, is predicted to reach 6615 tons. This number will increase to 7150 on January 1, 2013, after a New Year's Eve celebrations.
"While in the morning will increase to 7150 tons," Unu, at City Hall Jakarta, Wednesday (12/26/2012).
The spread of such waste is predicted to be concentrated in places of entertainment such as Monas, Ancol, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Ragunan, Old Town, and the Sudirman-Thamrin which will be the highlight of the celebration of New Year's Eve with the Car Free Night proclaimed by the governor Joko Widodo .
"Usually the stack in the region could reach 20 percent. If the total in the capital up to 10 percent because of fluctuations," Unu said.
If the increase is 10 percent, said Unu, the volume of garbage can exploded from six to ten tons. However, a constraint when performing cleaning garbage is curb street vendors (PKL) who slept until morning entertainment locations.
"Usually the event is finished at four in the morning, they were gone. Jam is clean six-Disinfect. PKL Kamtib but does it matter to the Sanitation Department to do the same as well," he said.
In addition, the estimated volume of waste Unu explained on the eve of the New Year in every area of the capital. For Central Jakarta with the largest volume of waste that is 1948 tonnes on December 31 and up to 2484 tons. After that, South Jakarta rose to 1814 tons and 1851 tons. Furthermore, West Jakarta with 1209 tons of waste volume increased to 1233 tons. For East Jakarta of 889 tons, up to 907 tons. North Jakarta last position with the volume of waste by 755 tons up to 770 tons.
"Total Sanitation Department personnel are prepared for the changing of the year a total of 757 officers and 102 units of the vehicle," said Unu.
