JAKARTA,
KOMPAS.com - Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) Mahfud MD
praised President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to justice in the Court. Mahfud called MK could be as it is now because there is no intervention by the President. He
also said they were proud to work as a constitutional judge for five
years because the Court recognized as a credible and independent. In fact, the Indonesian Constitutional Court referred to one of the 10 best in the world MK.
"That's
because I truly see and feel for our work, Mr. President, no
intervention whatsoever on the Court," Mahfud said after meeting with
the President at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (12/05/2012).
Mahfud will be present to report on the closure of the constitutional judges himself and four others in 2013. The four judges, namely Maria Farida Indrati, Muhammad Ali, Akil Mochtar, and Ahmad Sodikin.
In
a closed meeting, the President was accompanied by Coordinating
Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, State
Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam, and Deputy Justice
Minister Denny Indrayana.
Mahfud
said Indonesia's recent past and the present in the other countries,
the judiciary is not independent because of the intervention of the head
of government. According to Mahfud, frequent confession he received when he met with the constitutional judges of other countries.
"(The
judge constitution else asked) why you are so great, so progressive,
making a shocking verdicts? Are there no interference from the
government? I told the President we never interfere in the affairs of
the Court," said Mahfud.
In
addition to the absence of the intervention of the President, according
to Mahfud, MK current condition due to progressive constitution and
independence of all judges when it works. Mahfud believe there is no constitutional judges involved irregularities.
"Although
there is often no slander here, but we are saying is always open to be
proven that there are things that are not good. We work openly and know
the heart of each. Difference of opinion did not arouse suspicion
because we know (another judge) has perspective on the case, "said Mahfud.
