Ready-Ready, Starting January 1 Electricity Rates Up 4.3%
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have determined the increase scheme Basefare Litrik (TDL) is four times within three months in 2013. The scheme will begin in January 2013.
Minister Jero Wacik said the increase in electricity tariff made on January 1, 2013. The increase was applied to the power users group above 900 watts.
"(Power Users) 450-900 watt no increase, because people can not afford it," said Jero, while attending the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement, at the office, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jakarta, Wednesday (26/12/2012).
Jero added, the increase in electricity tariff will be done every three to four months with a total of 15 percent. Therefore, the increase in electricity tariff every three months to reach 4.3 percent.
"PLN has finished counting three times per quarter," said Jero.
According to Jero, with the increase would open opportunities for three million new customers that do not yet have electricity.
"We launched three million new customers," concludes Jero.
Previously, the government and parliament have agreed to raise electricity tariff electricity from next year despite rising fuel prices are not so last April. This is done by the government to reduce electricity subsidies to PLN that figure has reached Rp90 trillion and also raised Indonesia's new electrification ratio of 75 percent.
