Around the World by Bicycle, British couple killed in Thailand

Bangkok, - Tragic! British couple killed in traffic accidents in Thailand, in the middle around the world using their bikes.


Mary Thompson and Peter Root has 18 months traveling around the world with their bikes. Couple from the islands of Guernsey, England had been across Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia. They documented their journey in the film and blog. Listed are the 23 countries they crossed with their bicycles.

Thai police said the couple aged in their 30s were passing by on the main road in Chachoengsao province, eastern Thailand on Wednesday, February 13 years ago when a pick-up truck out of the track and hit the couple. Artist couple that was killed in the crash.

"They are tourists who have traveled to several countries before reaching Thailand," local police official said, Chaiyong Butrwan told AFP on Monday (18/02/2013).

According to him, during the incident, the truck driver looked down to pick up his hat amid the fall, but then hit a pair of vehicles dikemudikannya England.

Thompson and Root entered the country earlier this month. Previously, they had cycled across 23 countries since departed from Guernsey on 12 July 2011.

The incident, the truck driver is currently released on bail. Thai police claim the man on charges of negligence causing death, punishable by imprisonment up to 10 years in prison or a fine of 20 thousand baht, or both.
