Profile Agus Martowardojo, Single Candidate BI governor


VIVAnews - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono asking Finance Minister Agus Martowardojo, as the sole candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia. Parliament will soon begin the process of due diligence and feasibility.

Agus will replace Nasution said that his tenure as Governor of Indonesia's central bank will end in May 2013. Actually, this is the second time President Agus Marto nominated as a candidate for Governor of BI.
In 2008 ago, Agus Marto with Raden Pardede SBY filed as a candidate for Governor of BI, but rejected by the House in plenary session. SBY and Boediono as the sole candidate filed BI governor. Now, the President put forward as a candidate for re-Agus Marto single central bank governor.
Generous full name Agus Wintarto Martowardjojo born in Amsterdam, Netherlands January 24, 1956. Agus his education degree at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia in 1984.
Graduated from the UI, Agus has also completed a course of banking, management and leadership in many domestic and foreign institutions, including Banking & Management Courses, State University of New York, Stanford University and the Institute of bangking & Finance, Singapore.
He started his banking career as a staff International Loan on Bank of America branch in Jakarta. Joined the Bank Niaga in 1986, he occupied the position of Vice President of Corporate Banking, Banking Group Head.
In 1995, he was appointed President Director of PT Bank Bumiputera. Then, in 1998 became the President Director of PT Bank Export Import Indonesia.
From 1999 to 2002, he served as Director of the Bank with responsibility for Risk Management and Debt Restructuring, Retail Banking and Operations, Human Resources hinggga holds.
In October 2002, after being served as Advisor to the Chairman of IBRA (Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency), he was appointed as President Director of PT Bank Permata Tbk. (Resulting from the merger of PT Bank Bali Tbk., PT Bank Universal Tbk., PT Bank Prima Express, Bank Media and Patriot Bank).
In May 2005, he was appointed as a Director of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. On Monday, May 17, 2010, he was re-appointed as Managing Director of Mandiri for the next five years until 2015. Agus Marto career skyrocketed. In May 2010, he was inducted SBY as Finance Minister Sri Mulyani replace the Managing Director of the World Bank.
He was elected as Chairman of the Bankers Association of Indonesia in December 2005, and has served as Chairman of the State-Owned Banks (Himbara) since June 2006. Currently, he became Advisor Indonesian Banking Association and has served as Chairman of the National Association of Private Banks (the Banks) from 2003 to May 2006. He is also Chairman of the Bankers Club of Indonesia from 2000 to 2003.
In 2006, he was selected as the Best Executive Indonesia by Asiamoney and was awarded the Leadership Achievement Award from The Asian Banker. In 2007 he was recognized as a Top Banker 2007 from Investor magazine.
In November 2008, he was selected as the Best CEO in 2008 from Economy News magazine and in December 2008 was elected as Executive Banker Top Investor Magazine. In December 2008, he was elected to the Board of Kadin Indonesia for the period 2008-2013.
